Living up to its name, the Norwegian Epic offers an epic cruising experience. This ship is known for its entertainment options, with the Epic Theater hosting award-winning shows. The staterooms, especially the studio cabins with exclusive access to the Studio Lounge, are a highlight.

You can also take special cruise tours or music-themed cruises. Take the family vacation of a lifetime on the Norwegian Cruise Line. Cruises simplify the bulk of your vacation planning and transportation, as everything you need is in one convenient package. One of them was designated as the “main pool” while the other was designated as “adults only.” Somewhat oddly, the “main pool” seemed like the smaller of the two. This was also an extremely popular attraction with all reservations for the cruise filled up during the first day. All go karts reservations for the cruise were gone by noon the day after embarkation.

The NCL fleet also offers an amazing opportunity for families to allow their kids to experience the sea and go to places without being bored while inside the cruise ship. One of the fantastic benefits of cruising with kids are the complimentary youth programs provided on board. Norwegian Cruise Line’s Splash Academy offers supervised activities, such as scavenger hunts or arts and crafts, for kids ages 3 to 12. Entourage is the perfect solution for teens 13 to 17, as they’ll be able to hang out, play video games or have fun at the teen-only nightclub. It hasn't even launched yet, and we're already confident that Royal Caribbean's new Icon of the Seas, soon to be the largest ship afloat, will be one of the top cruise ships for kids.

The chili and chips appetizer was the one dish that stood out. Also, the ship has a Margaritaville which is near the pool/slide area. And, for those who truly like to wing it, the ship has prominent screens posted on Deck 8 (where most of the restaurants were located) that posted current availability for various restaurants. So, presumably, you could just wander down to Deck 8 when you got hungry and check out your immediate options.

Norwegian Prima vs Breakaway Plus Class: How these cruise ships compare.

I’ve rounded up seven of my favorites, which I’ll share in the first part of this guide. I have been cruising since 2004 and have sailed on dozens of cruises all over the world. As the creator of this website, I want to help families plan fun cruises free of stress and filled with adventure! With the exception of the first night, the ship offered movies by the pool each night.
Allure of the Seas
Pride of America is the only ship in the world that sails under the US flag, and it is NCL’s primary ship for exploring the islands of Hawaii. And this is why people love it – the ship itself is nothing too special, although people do enjoy the quieter atmosphere and the extra space offered by hosting fewer guests. Norwegian Getaway was the second Breakaway Class ship and people love the variety of entertainment and dining venues on board. The ship has some cool attractions aimed at all ages, but it is missing that killer USP that came with later Breakaway Plus ships in the form of the go-kart track. NCL is a cruise line that is very family-friendly, and while Norwegian Escape isn’t different, it does excel from a couples perspective too. The highlights of the ship are often the adult-only areas, including the Vibe Beach Club, Spice H2O sun deck and the beautiful Mandara Spa.
Wonder of the Seas
Passengers and crew members on Carnival Cruise Line ships come ready to meet new friends or share a laugh, a story and a drink with their shipmates. Social kids will fit right in and love the line's huge, new ship Carnival Celebration. They can make friends at the Family Harbor Lounge, Camp Ocean and Dr. Seuss Bookville; older kids will enjoy the teen and tween clubs conveniently located near Guy Fieri's burger stand and the video arcade. The Norwegian Dawn, with its classic design and modern amenities, promises a cruise experience that’s both nostalgic and contemporary.
Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva: Best for luxury lovers

Other kids might spend their parents' money on more virtual fun, indulging in F1 race car simulators, VR motorcycle racing, a 4D movie theater and a video arcade. Family groups can split into teams for sports court competitions or participate in organized games that rely on the latest technology to challenge guests of all ages. Inside the ship, Firefly Park will have drop-off kid programming and family play spaces for kids 6 months to 7 years old. Tweens and teens will each have their own hangouts, Neon Grove and The Underground, with cozy lounge furniture and plenty of video and other games. Traverse the world on the Norwegian Encore, traveling from Alaska to Seattle or from the Caribbean to Miami. Adventure calls on the Encore, including many of the fun activities for families featured on other Norwegian cruise ships.
The room had two cabinets under the TV area that each had a very narrow shelf. Yes, having a stroller with you on your cruise comes in handy. Cruises are generally quite big and require a decent amount of walking. Having the ability to push your child in the stroller is much easier than carrying them all day. You can also explore ports or go on excursions with your stroller. You may choose to bring your own crib to ensure your little one has a familiar space for sleep time.
A huge virtual reality playground features rides and games that blow the standard cruise ship arcade out of the water. No, Norwegian Cruise Line is known for its amazing deals for families. It also allows third and fourth guests to cruise free on some voyages. Most cruise lines, including Norwegian cruise ships, allow kids under one year old to sail for free when they book a stateroom or family room with two paying adults.
While it is similar in size to other Breakaway Plus ships’ casinos, the best casino on the NCL fleet is found on the Norwegian Escape. It has a huge selection of gambling machines and table games that guests can enjoy. One of the newest ships in the NCL fleet, Norwegian Prima is the first in the Prima Class and it feels like a lot of lessons have been learned from the Breakaway and Breakaway Plus classes. Norwegian Breakaway launched the Breakaway Class for NCL and was considered to be a huge success, so it’s a surprise for it to be ranked so low down. The waterslides are incredible, although I couldn’t try all of them due to being pregnant at the time.
The Norwegian Joy, Norwegian Encore and the Norwegian Prima (coming soon) have a race track onboard the ship. Races last for approximately 8 minutes and the cars can go up to 30 MPH. Each Go-Kart race costs $15 per person or $200 for unlimited races throughout the cruise. When it comes to dining, the Norwegian Epic has plenty of choices. Whether you want to eat the complimentary food or try some specialty dining restaurants, there is something for everyone.
This Norwegian ship offers a ropes course, mini-golf, and a range of family-friendly entertainment options, including Broadway-style shows. There are also various kid's clubs and activities that are perfect for playtime. Although Princess Cruises might not be the most well-known for its family-friendly offerings, its ships include expansive programs, facilities and accommodations making them great cruises for kids and adults.
Departing from Florida, the Bahamas, and Bermuda, set sail for a world of adventure aboard the MSG Meraviglia. This ship sails to New England and Canada and delights the entire voyage. Some rooms even connect so your kids can feel independent while you keep a watchful eye over them. Activities like story time, theater, art, and science will enchant the young’uns, who you will definitely want to bring, as kids sail free. Norwegian Cruise Lines visit Asia, New England, Florida, Alaska, the Bahamas, Canada, the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, Europe, and Hawaii.
